Today, Friday, the Ministry of Electricity announced the start of converting daily wage employees into contracts, while it revealed the latest developments in the two files of electrical interconnection with the Gulf countries and Jordan.
"The ministry has started to actually direct the transfer of wages into contracts, and some companies have started that," said the ministry's spokesman, Ahmed Moussa, in a statement to the official agency, which was followed by the Al Nab'a agency.
He added, "The salaries of wages and contracts for the past five months are supposed to have been disbursed, as the sukuk were received by the companies."
Regarding the Gulf interconnection project, Moussa commented that “it is hoped to complete the Gulf linkage with Iraq in the year 2023,” indicating that “Iraq has accomplished approximately 81% of the direction of this connection and its related matters, and now there are discussions and negotiations with the Gulf Linking Authority to establish this line that reaches Its length is 300 km, and it will be 220 km inside Kuwaiti territory and 80 km inside Iraqi territory. "
He continued, "Iraq is supposed to link the Al-Zour station to the Al-Faw station, and thus establish an electrical connection between Iraq and the Gulf Link Authority."
Concerning the connection with Jordan, Moussa said that "the project is being implemented by General Electric and requires 26 months, as a first stage, which requires linking more than 350 megawatts with the western governorates."
