The railway company intends, on Friday, to restore its destroyed lines, while local governments were approached with the need to remove encroachments on the lines through which the trains pass.
The Director General of the Railway Company, Talib Jawad Al-Husseini, said in a statement to the official agency, followed by “Al-Nour News” that “the Ministry of Transport approached all the governorates through which the railways pass in order to lift the violations of the railways,” noting that “the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, in turn, approached the governors To remove the excesses of the railways.
Al-Husseini stressed, “there is an urgent need for a societal culture, because some of the transgressors do not feel the movement of trains and its importance, and do not evaluate the work of the railways, but rather look at narrow interests by constructing a place or building housing for them,” noting that “the railway company is going through very great challenges.” As a result of the abuses on the one hand and the scarcity of financial allocations on the other hand.”
Al-Husseini continued, "Despite these challenges, the company is working to restore its destroyed lines," adding, "The abuses on railways affect the movement of trains, including loads, which negatively affects the company's revenues."
