{Baghdad: Al Furat News} Head of the General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage, Laith Majid Hussein, discussed on Wednesday with Ernesto Otuni Ramirez, Assistant Director-General for Culture at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, a number of important topics.
A statement of the Ministry of Culture, a copy of which was received by Al-Furat News Agency, said that the meeting "discussed the files of the world heritage sites in Iraq."
The statement added that during the meeting, they discussed the tireless efforts of Iraq to remove some sites from the danger list in order to eliminate the threats of the terrorist organization ISIS.
Ramirez affirmed the organization's readiness to train Iraqi cadres to manage world heritage files, expressing his desire to visit Iraq soon with an international team to see the progress of Iraq's commitment to the terms and requirements of UNESCO for World Heritage sites.
