Lukoil plans to sell its stake in West Qurna 2, and Baghdad responds

Today, Thursday, in response to a question about the company's plans to sell a stake in the West Qurna - 2 project, the company's president, Vagit Alekperov, said, "We have notified Iraq of selling part of our share, there are those interested.
He added, "So far, the Iraqi Oil Ministry has refused because they are satisfied with the company's work in Iraq, so we continue the negotiation processes to improve the economy in West Qurna-2, especially in the Yamama reservoir."
And Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar had announced earlier that "Lukoil" had officially informed the Iraqi authorities of its intention to sell its stake in the West Qurna 2 field to Chinese companies.
It is reported that the Russian company "Lukoil" owns 75% of the West Qurna 2 project, and the state-owned Iraqi North Oil Company - 25%.
The company also participates in the project with the Iraqi Southern Oil Company, which distributes the project's oil on behalf of Iraq among its participants at the expense of reimbursing costs and wages.
In the middle of last June, Iraq signed a contract to drill 96 oil wells in the "West Qurna-1" field, and this came according to a statement published by the Iraqi Oil Ministry yesterday, Thursday, on its Facebook page.
The signing took place between the Basra Oil Company and the contractor for the West Qurna-1 field, ExxonMobil and Schlumberger, in the presence and patronage of Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar.
