The head of the National Security Apparatus, Abdul-Ghani Al-Asadi, directed, on Tuesday, to prevent officers and employees of the apparatus from interfering in political and electoral affairs.
Al-Asadi said, at the end of his visit to Nineveh Governorate, that "our visit to you comes within our field tours in the governorates in which we supervised the security plan of the agency for securing polling stations."
He stressed "the importance of standing at the same distance from all candidates for the elections," directing "to prevent officers and employees of the apparatus from interfering in political and electoral affairs, as the security officer must work for Iraq only, away from any affiliations."
He continued, "Intensifying the intelligence effort and going out to the street to search and monitor preemptive information contributes to filling the security gaps that the enemy is trying to exploit."
Al-Asadi added, "ISIS terrorist gangs are trying to exploit the soft areas to influence the security situation, but our calculation is accurate in this aspect and we have put the final touches to the security of the elections," adding: "We, as a security apparatus, are required to work with double effort and take responsibility at its highest levels."
And he stated, "It is easy to reach the top, but it is difficult to maintain staying there, so maintain your good level and think of what is best." Ended 29/A43
