A Middle East Eye report confirmed that the United States will deploy about 2,000 soldiers for nine months in Iraq
The report stated that Soldiers from the 4th Infantry Division will replace the combat brigade of the US National Guard in Louisiana for nine months and become the primary US force. For its part, Pentagon spokeswoman Jessica L. McKinulty said that the deployment of the 4th Infantry Division unit to replace the departing unit was part of From the natural rotation of units to support the continuity of Operation Resolve CJTF.
She added that the US and coalition forces in Iraq are staying at the invitation of the Iraqi government, indicating that Baghdad and Washington have decided that the security relationship will move completely to the role of training, guidance, assistance and exchange of intelligence information, and there will be no US forces with a combat role in Iraq by the 31st of December of current year.
