The Sri Lankan Colombo Dockyard Company (CDPLC) has completed and sent two ships to Iraq, represented by a floating vessel named “Al-Faw” and the pilot station vessel “Shatt Al-Arab” of the General Company for Iraqi Ports.
According to the “daily mirror” report, “For these ships, the Japanese company Toyota Tsugo signed the main contract with the Iraqi Ports Company, and subcontracted with Colombo Dockyard for the construction of the two ships.”
The report added, "The project was financed within the framework of Japanese official development assistance loans from the Japan International Cooperation Agency."
He pointed out that "currently, the two ships are being transported to Iraq on the semi-submersible "Development Way" ship.
He explained that this deal is a new experience for Dockyard and the Port of Colombo.
