    Today, Tuesday, the Ministry of Transport announced a preliminary agreement between Iraq and Iran to transport passengers across the Shatt al-Arab.

    A statement from the ministry stated that “the director of the General Company for Maritime Transport, Ahmed Jassim Al-Asadi, attended a joint meeting with representatives of ports in the Islamic Republic of Iran, to stimulate the movement of passengers between the two parties via the Shatt Al-Arab,” indicating that “the meeting came in accordance with the directives of the Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhaibas Al-Saadawi, during his meeting with his counterpart.” In the Islamic Republic of Iran recently.



    He added, "This line is necessary to facilitate the transportation of travelers between the two countries, especially during the seasons of religious occasions, to reduce the crowding occurring at the land ports," noting that "the company has a dock ready for the comfort of travelers," noting that "the boats of both countries are modern and secure for transporting passengers and equipped with rescue means."

    He explained . The transportation will be between the Iranian ports of Khorramshahr and the Ashar pier on the banks of the Shatt al-Arab due to the ease of transportation by boats currently available, which are the best and fastest to stimulate river taxi traffic with its tourism and economic advantages.
