    {Local: Al Furat News} The Border Ports Authority announced, on Wednesday, the approval of including the Shalamcheh border port among the approved ports for the passage of transit goods.
    The authority stated in a statement that {Euphrates News} received a copy of it, that based on what was presented by the head of the Border Ports Authority Omar Adnan Al-Waeli during his attendance at the seventh meeting of the committee concerned with developing a detailed study on the mechanism of work in the transit system headed by the Minister of Transport and based on the request submitted by the Iranian side to Approval of the Shalamcheh port among the border crossing points covered by the transit system. The issue was presented during the meeting and the committee members approved the request submitted.
    The statement added, "Based on the foregoing, Iraq has seven important border crossing points operating in the transit system, which are (Safwan, Al-Qaim, Arar, Trebil, Al-Mandhiriya, Zurbatiyat Al-Shalamjah)."
    The statement concluded, "These measures come in order to activate Iraq's geographical location commercially and to obtain important revenues that contribute to supporting the economy and encouraging cross-border trade."
