Today, Friday, the North Oil Refineries Company reviewed the works it accomplished during 2021, as well as the future investment projects that the company intends to implement.
The company's general manager, Qassim Abdul Rahman Hussein, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the works that were accomplished during the year 2021 included the atmospheric distillation unit in Salah al-Din 1 refinery with a capacity of 70,000 barrels per day, and the construction and rehabilitation of the low pressure hydrogenation unit, which is part of the The light distillate hydrogenation unit in Salah El-Din Refinery 2, construction and rehabilitation of 2 steam boilers with a capacity of 70 tons per hour each, construction and rehabilitation of energy and technical services units in the power of Salah El-Din Refinery, and completion of the first, second and third phases of the rehabilitation works of the company’s warehouses.
Hussein added, "The first, second and third phases of the company's reservoirs project have been completed, the first and second phases and part of the third phase of the industrial water deals project, installation and operation of 9 main electrical stations and 8 electrical sub-stations, in addition to the installation and operation of the first and second phases of the project. The self-generation station, the completion of the rehabilitation, installation and extension of pipelines and communications, and the completion of the first, second, and final phases of the third phase of infrastructure projects that include the reconstruction, rehabilitation and construction of administrative and service buildings, roads, workshops, squares, gates and all related items.
He continued, "The works of the third phase (b) have been completed, which includes the completion of the construction and rehabilitation of the light distillate hydrogenation unit in Salah El-Din Refinery 2, with a capacity of 29,000 barrels per day, and the construction and rehabilitation of the gasoline improvement unit in Salah El-Din Refinery 2, with a capacity of 16,500 barrels per day." Completion of the works of the third phase of the reconstruction and rehabilitation of power units, technical services, warehouses, tanks and industrial water transactions.
He noted, "One of the results of the above stages was that the refinery reached a total refining capacity of 140,000 barrels per day."
Regarding external refineries, Hussein stated, “The North Refineries Company carried out a project to rehabilitate, reconstruct and raise the capacities of external refineries in four governorates, and this included directing a project to raise the capacity of a modern refinery from 16,000 barrels to 36,000 barrels per day, in addition to infrastructure projects, reservoirs, warehouses and stations. electrical, pipelines, etc.
He pointed out, "Continuing work to rehabilitate and rebuild Focus Unit 109 in Kirkuk with a capacity of 20,000 barrels per day, continuing work to rehabilitate the units of the Qayyarah refinery, continuing work to complete the projects of the Chinese refinery, and continuing work to complete the projects of the Al-Kasak refinery."
He pointed out, "One of the investment and future projects is the project to establish two hydrogenation units and improve gasoline in Kirkuk with a capacity of 12,000 barrels, and it has been transferred to the custody of Al-Barham Company," noting that "this company has started implementation, and the completion rate has reached approximately 25%."
And he continued, "One of the investment and future projects as well is the Kirkuk investment refinery project with a capacity of 150,000 barrels. The design work of the refinery was completed by the British Shaw Company in 2013, and that it was referred to implementation under the custody of the Rania International Company, and this company is now in the process of initiating implementation work, and a project Haditha Investment Refinery, with a capacity of 70,000 barrels per day, is now in the final assignment stages.
He added: "Also, the Qayyarah investment refinery with a capacity of 70,000 barrels per day, and a preliminary memorandum of understanding was signed with the European companies SIPC and Lamak to start implementation work, and a project to establish two hydrogenation units and improve gasoline in a modern refinery. Discussions began with the American company UOP to design and implement the project for the account and financing of The North Refineries Company, and the project to establish two hydrogenation units and improve gasoline in the Al-Siniya and Al-Kisk refinery, and is currently in the stage of preparing the requirements for the two projects.”
And he added: "Also, within the investment and future projects, the project to develop and modernize the North Refineries Complex and external refineries, improve environmental conditions and production specifications to reach the global competitive standard in the field of production specifications compatible with environmental requirements, marketing, raising the efficiency and modernizing refinery equipment, and a project to raise the storage capacities of the refineries and refineries complex.
