    France condemned, on Friday, the attack launched by ISIS elements against the Iraqi army forces in Al-Azim district, Diyala Governorate.

    "France condemns in the strongest terms the terrorist attack that targeted the Iraqi security forces today and killed a number of madmen in Diyala Governorate, Iraq," the French embassy said in a statement, a copy of which was received by "Nass" (January 21, 2022).  
    She added, "France offers its deepest condolences to the loved ones of the fallen soldiers, and expresses its determination to provide all its support to the Iraqi authorities in this context."  
    She stressed that "France will continue to stand by Iraq in the war against terrorism, with its partners in the international coalition against ISIS."  
      
    The United Nations Mission in Iraq, "UNAMI", condemned the attack that targeted Iraqi army forces in Al-Azim district.  
    "The terrorist attack in Diyala, which killed Iraqi forces and wounded others, is a painful reminder that ISIS continues to pose a threat," the mission said.  
    She stressed, "vigilance and unity will defeat these cowardly attempts to destabilize."    
      
    The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, stressed that security breaches should not be repeated, while the perpetrators of the "Al-Azim" attack vowed a decisive response.  
    Al-Kazemi said, "The terrorist crime committed against our sons from the army in Diyala Governorate, will not pass without decisive punishment, and our forces will have a resounding response against the murderous terrorists."      
    He added, "Our heroic armed forces have a duty to prevent the recurrence of these violations and to pursue terrorists everywhere, for the sake of Iraq and the Iraqis."      
      
    Al-Kazemi directed, earlier, an urgent investigation into the terrorist incident that the 1st Company in the 2nd Infantry Brigade of the 1st Division of the Iraqi Army was exposed to in Diyala.  
    Major General Yahya Rasoul, spokesman for the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, stated, "The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces directed an urgent investigation into the terrorist incident, which resulted in the death of 11 fighters, including an officer from the 1st Company in the 2nd Infantry Brigade of the 1st Division of the Iraqi Army in the Umm al-Karami area in Al-Azim district. in Diyala Governorate.        
    Rasool added, "Al-Kazemi ordered to adhere to the highest levels of preparedness to defeat the plans of terrorist groups, to carry out major operations in areas used by members of the terrorist organization ISIS, and to move quickly to inflict just retribution against the terrorists who committed this cowardly act and pursue them wherever they are."        
    Al-Kazemi stressed that "these cowardly terrorist acts will increase our armed forces' determination to pursue the pockets of the insidious ISIS organization and eradicate its remnants from everywhere on the land of Iraq."        
      
    Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi commented on the attack on the army forces in Diyala Governorate.  
    Al-Halbousi said, "The escalation of terrorist operations targeting our military and security forces requires a strong response and proactive and proactive intelligence work at the level of danger that threatens the security of the homeland and the citizen."        
    He added, "Pursuing ISIS remnants, destroying their hideouts, and arming and training the people of the regions will ensure that these criminal incidents are not repeated."
