, the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, surprised allies and opponents, on Saturday, by announcing a boycott of the Sadrist bloc for the presidential election session next Monday and freezing negotiations to form a government, but the repercussions of this decision may enter Iraq in an unprecedented constitutional vacuum.
The head of the Sadrist bloc, Hassan al-Adhari, who announced the boycott of Monday’s session, re-tweeted, saying: “a reformist national majority government,” without adding or clarifying, which put the political blocs in a state of confusion, especially the partners in the political alliance, and we are talking here about the Alliance of Sovereignty and the Kurdistan Democratic Party .
The representative of the Sovereignty Alliance, Mishaan al-Jubouri, warned of a constitutional vacuum and said, via Twitter, that "after the current's sudden decision not to participate in his bloc in the presidential election session.
It is likely that the “Sovereignty” and “Kurdistan Democratic” blocs will not attend the session, and thus the quorum will not be achieved for it, and we will enter the unprecedented constitutional vacuum!”

Commenting on al-Sadr’s tweet, a member of the Azm Alliance, Abdul-Wahhab al-Bilawi, said in an interview with “Mawazine News” that “Al-Sadr found a partisan side’s acquisition of the regional government, its parliament, and the Presidency of Parliament, and now he wants the presidency, and this matter did not appeal to the Sadrist movement.”
