, Minister of Agriculture, Muhammad Karim al-Khafaji, confirmed today, Monday, that Iraq will discuss with the Turkish and Iranian sides the water file and its extensions during the FAO conference held in Baghdad, while indicating that the outcomes of the conference will be important and excellent.
Al-Khafaji said, "The first scientific demonstration in Iraq after more than 50 years is currently being held with the 36th session of the Near East and North Africa Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization, and this is a victory for Iraq."
He added, "There is a virtual presence of more than 16 ministers and 17 ministers from other countries, and we discussed many issues related to food security, desertification and water problems, and providing the appropriate environment for investment."
He pointed out that "the conference will be attended by humanitarian organizations related to the agricultural sector, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the International and the Agricultural Development Organization, in addition to the relevant ministers of Turkey, Iran and neighboring countries, and this is a strengthening of the agricultural sector in Iraq and its outputs, and we expect them to be excellent."
He added, "We have a meeting with the Turkish Minister of Agriculture to discuss trade exchange, economic issues and water problems among our priorities and the outcomes of the conference. We will invest in the presence of the Iranian and Turkish delegations to discuss the issue of water and its extensions, which is an opportunity and these conferences bear fruit in the presence of the international community and professional international organizations."
