    Economy News _ Baghdad
Today, Tuesday, Minister of Water Resources, Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani, stressed that climate changes and drought have become a reality in Iraq, and solutions should be found by benefiting from the experiences of other countries.
This came in a statement he made today on the ministry's page on the social networking sites "Facebook" about the importance of holding the second Baghdad International Water Conference for the period from 5-7 March.
Al-Hamdani said, during the video statement, that there is international interest in Iraq in terms of climate changes, and these challenges are real, which Iraq is still suffering from, but there is concerted efforts to overcome this stage.
He added that "the issue of climate change has become a reality and Iraq must take it seriously, and this conference will focus greatly on the challenges and climate changes facing Iraq for the purpose of benefiting from the experiences that will be presented during the conference on the 5th and 6th of this month, and we allocated a third day for a field visit to Dam Indian and modern waterwheels, which were included on the list of world heritages recently.
The minister continued by saying that Iraq is one of the oldest and most common countries in the use of water resources through the implementation of many projects for this at different stages, and it is very necessary for the world to inform Iraq of Iraq's projects.
This conference, which will be held in the capital, Baghdad, during the period (5-6) March, will focus on the impact of climate change on water resources, with themes dealing with:
Managing water resources in light of climate change.
Sustaining surface and ground water and reducing pollution.
Sustainability of the wetland ecosystem and the preservation of biodiversity.
Adopting water policies that limit the effects of climate change.
The conference adopts a vision aimed at achieving sustainable development of water resources in light of climate change in the long term and achieving cooperation between riparian countries in accordance with the principle of sharing damages.
The conference also aims to strengthen the global response to this serious challenge in order to reach a better, stable, development and prosperous world.
The conference will be an international platform for exchanging experiences and knowledge.
The agenda of the conference on (3/7/2022) will include a field visit to Al-Hindiya Dam, which was recently included in the Irrigation World Heritage Register.
