The President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, reiterated adherence to "constitutional rights", indicating that there are parties seeking to punish the region.
Barzani said in a speech during his patronage and attendance of the work of the Industrial Forum on Markets and Business that was launched in Erbil, "This industrial forum aims to secure markets with financial products and create more job opportunities for the citizens of the Kurdistan Region."
He added that "the ninth government formation, since the beginning of its duties, has worked to diversify sources of income and pay attention to all sectors in a way that does not depend on a single source of income."
He continued, "We have been interested in the industrial and agricultural sectors and have completed many projects, and our primary goal is to build and strengthen a solid economic structure for the Kurdistan region."
He explained that "the challenges facing the Kurdistan region, Iraq, and the world, cast negative shadows on all aspects of life in general, especially the outbreak of the Corona virus and its negative consequences, then the drop in global oil prices, and Baghdad's reluctance to send the region's share of the budget, which is continuing until now." Barzani indicated that "these crises and the difficulties that accompanied them not only affected the Kurdistan region, but also included the major industrial countries that have enormous economies, and they also incurred great losses."
He continued, "But despite all these crises and difficulties, we did not stop working and did not stop implementing service and strategic projects, and according to the economic capabilities available to us, we continued to work and implemented many important and strategic projects at all levels in various regions of the Kurdistan Region." Barzani pointed out, "The implementation of a package of projects at the height of crises by implementing roads and industrial, electrical, agricultural and tourism projects, as the government has already completed some of these projects and others are still under implementation."
And he added, "Without any doubt, some of these projects were joint between the private and government sectors, and here we must thank the private sector, which was able, in coordination and cooperation with the regional government, to implement many projects over the past period."
Barzani stressed that "the Kurdistan Regional Government provides all forms of facilities necessary for local and foreign investors to contribute to the advancement and strengthening of the region's economic structure."
He explained, "The regional government supports by all available means, young people and owners of industrial or small commercial projects or in any other field," directing the concerned authorities to "overcome all obstacles that would impede the implementation of small projects for young people."
Barzani touched on his visits abroad, and said that they "included discussions with senior international officials with the aim of enhancing trade exchange, developing the economy, supplying markets with local products and creating more job opportunities for young people by encouraging the attraction of foreign investments, and benefiting from the experiences of developed countries in the development of the Kurdistan region." .
Barzani stressed, "All projects are closely related to the political stability in Iraq in general and the establishment of good and friendly relations between the Kurdistan region and the federal government," adding, "We believe that the development of the Kurdistan region is in the interest of all Iraqis, and the Iraqi sisters and brothers should look from this aspect to the Progress is taking place in the region, not the other way around.”
He also added, "With our limited economic capabilities, we have been able to achieve this progress and development in the Kurdistan region at all levels, which shows a great difference from the rest of Iraq, but unfortunately, instead of our support and assistance, there are parties that seek to undermine this development and punish the Kurdistan Region."
Barzani expressed his "hope that everyone who wants to harm the Kurdistan region will think about the series of wars and political conflicts that Iraq has experienced, and asked: What did the Iraqis benefit from?" He reiterated his confidence that "if all these energies and resources were harnessed in the service, reconstruction, development and development of the Iraqi regions, Iraq today would have become an advanced industrial country at the level of the region and the world."
Barzani concluded with "the complete desire to build the best relations with the federal government, and he also stressed once again the adherence to constitutional rights to proceed in the path of the renaissance of the Kurdistan region and the establishment of stability and peace in Iraq in general."
