On Saturday, March 26, 2022, the House of Representatives announced that it will hold its regular session No. 4 for the first legislative term.
The leader of the Sovereignty Alliance, Mishaan al-Jubouri, said that the quorum was incomplete in the session
The parliament's media department said in a statement, "Ultra Iraq" received a copy of it, that "the Speaker of Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, opened the session's work, in the presence of 202 deputies."
The agenda published earlier includes the election of the President of the Republic.
Mishaan al-Jubouri, a leader in the Sovereignty Alliance, said that "the quorum was not complete in the session."
And he explained in a tweet on Twitter, followed by "Ultra Iraq", that "the regular session is available by adding a new paragraph to the session's agenda."
Indeed, the House of Representatives voted to add a paragraph to its agenda.
At this time, members of the House of Representatives vote on the members of the Parliamentary Finance Committee.
The House of Representatives also voted to add the “first reading of the Emergency Support for Food Security and Development Law” paragraph to its agenda.
The coordination framework announced sending the heads of 4 blocs, namely Ahmed Al-Asadi, Bahaa Al-Nour, Faleh Al-Sari and Mustafa Al-Khazali, to Parliament to follow up on the mechanisms of holding the presidential election session or not.
The fourth session of Parliament comes more than 5 months after the legislative elections were held on October 10.
Parliament had approved the names of 40 candidates for the position of President of the Republic, most notably the Kurdistan Democratic Party candidate "Reber Ahmed Barzani" in front of his rival, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan candidate Barham Salih.
