    Today, Saturday, the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers announced an inventory of 31 presidential palaces in Basra Governorate, while revealing a tendency to turn them into public parks. 
    The director of the presidential palaces department of the secretariat, Muhammad Zamil Saeed Al-Saadi, said in a statement received by the news agency, that "the ownership of the presidential palaces remains fixed assets to the Ministry of Finance and cannot be transferred to any governmental or local authority."
    He added, "According to the instructions and according to official approvals, the government departments occupying these palaces have the right to dispose of through allotment exclusively for the purposes of maintenance and development of the constructed construction," noting that "the Ministry of Agriculture, in coordination with Basra Governorate and the United Nations Organization, intends to revive the green areas and rehabilitate the lakes that lie within the belt." The Qasour area (Al-Baradi’yah) overlooking the waters of the Shatt Al-Arab, to be the largest public park in the governorate, after defining the areas and the urban degree and identifying the occupants in the areas (Al-Baradi’yah and Al-Kazzara) located in the center of the governorate.”
    Al-Saadi explained that "the team formed within the plan of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers will move to another governorate within a special schedule that has been prepared in advance in order to complete the unified database of all presidential palaces across the country according to the specific timings for the completion of the census and detection project."
