, Saturday, the Ministry of Defense issued a clarification regarding the Bulgarian arms deal contracts.
The ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "social networking sites circulated during the past days a book bearing the signature of Representative (Hadi Hassan Al-Salami), and addressed to the Public Prosecution Service entitled (Corruption and Wasting of Public Money in the Ministry of Defense in the Bulgarian arms contract deal)." , and here we explain to public opinion the following:
1- The contracts of the Ministry of Defense that were concluded during the past period pass through the Council of Ministers and the National Security Advisory and under the supervision of specialized committees (the Contracts Committee, the Examination and Acceptance Committee).
2- Achieving political gains on the reputation of the Iraqi army and the morale of fighters by publishing incorrect and false information, it affects the security of the country and the lives of citizens, who have great confidence in the Iraqi military institution, especially since this institution provided its best fighters as martyrs in order to defend the homeland and its sovereignty.
3- There are specialized committees in the House of Representatives (the Security and Defense Committee). If the representative was keen on the security of the country, it would have been better for the representative to present them to the committee earlier and not to leak and publish them through social networking sites, the aim of which is to achieve despicable political goals that harm the security of the state and the security of society, especially since the world and the region You are going through very difficult circumstances.
4- The same representative had previously published pictures and videos on social media sites of feeding the fighters, and was contacted by the Ministry of Defense, to provide us with the information published by him, so that we could verify it, but he did not give any information and presented flimsy arguments.
5- It is not possible to think that the military establishment, headed by the Minister of Defense, the Chief of Staff of the Army and the military leaders, accept that everything related to the fighter (food, administrative affairs, armament, housing, etc.) is only the best and the best, for this is what the Ministry of Defense is working on, and that there is follow-up By specialized committees for everything related to the fighters from the aforementioned, and that the Military Inspectorate conducts a continuous inspection of all units of the Iraqi army and everything related to the fighters, and then submits detailed reports to the Minister of Defense and the Chief of Staff of the Army.
6- Using the media or social networking sites, fabricating information and spreading misleading news and lies to public opinion, does not help the desired reform process, but rather harms it completely and leads to political blackmail to achieve the goals and objectives of the enemy.
The ministry confirmed, according to the statement, that "it will take the legal measures guaranteed by the constitution against anyone who tries to blackmail or tarnish the reputation of the Iraqi military institution in accordance with legal frameworks."
