    The Information/Baghdad:
The Ministry of Agriculture confirmed, on Sunday, that the decision to open imports did not solve the problem of the high prices of various commodities and products due to their high prices globally.
Its spokesman, Hamid Al-Nayef, said in a statement to the newspaper, “Al-Sabah” and seen by “The Information”, that it “follows up on the abundance or scarcity of foodstuffs in the local markets to supply them with what they need by importing them, especially after the decision of the Council of Ministers to open the import of all foodstuffs for a period of three months. To provide sufficient quantities of various materials, goods and products in order to reduce their prices locally.
Al-Nayef added, "The rise in food prices is not exclusive to Iraq, but is present in neighboring countries, and therefore the imported materials to Iraq have also doubled in prices, and therefore the decision to open imports did not solve the problem of the high prices of various commodities and products."
He pointed out that "the solution lies in adopting a number of treatments internally, the most important of which is providing feed to livestock breeders of livestock, poultry and fish, and imposing strict control on local markets to control prices in them, while taking legal measures against anyone who raises prices on citizens." finished/25
