Today, Saturday, the State of Law coalition, led by Nuri al-Maliki, accused "unnamed" influential political parties of disrupting the oversight role of the House of Representatives to benefit from the survival of the caretaker government and to pass "projects and contracts."
Member of the coalition, Muhammad al-Sihoud, said that “there are influential political parties that are working to disrupt the House of Representatives and take advantage of that obstruction for the purpose of passing many contracts, projects and appointments in the caretaker government.”
Chihoud added, "Disrupting the House of Representatives means disabling the oversight role over the caretaker government, which should not act as a government with full powers."
Chihod continued, “We believe that the purpose of this disruption is to prevent Parliament from exercising the oversight role and following up on the government’s work,” noting that “the parties that benefit from the disruption of Parliament are the political blocs that benefit from the government’s survival and passing its projects to serve its interests due to the disruption of the Parliament’s oversight role.”
