The General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers announced, on Thursday, that the Council of Ministers decided to extend the zeroing of customs duties on goods and to suspend work on import licenses for three materials.
The spokesman for the secretariat, Haider Majid, told the official news agency, "The paragraphs of the Council of Ministers resolutions (80 and 109 of 2022) contained in the Council of Ministers Resolution (155 of 2022), provided for the extension of the work of zeroing the customs duty on the necessary goods from foodstuffs and consumer building materials. For a period of three months, and canceling all confiscated decisions regarding product protection related to banning the import of foodstuffs, consumer goods and medicines, and permitting their import, until 9/30/2022.
And he continued, "The work of import licenses for foodstuffs, consumables and medicines included in the import has been suspended, and the examination and quality control procedures, health control procedures, and agricultural and veterinary quarries at the border crossings are satisfied until 9/30/2022."
Majid stressed, "The decision came based on what was presented by the Chairman of the Border Ports Authority at the twenty-first regular session of the Council of Ministers, held on 6/7/2022, and based on the Iraqi government's keenness to provide foodstuffs to citizens and to confront the high prices."
