On Wednesday, Representative of the State of Law Coalition Aref Al-Hamami advised the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, to withdraw from the competition for the position of President of the Republic, stressing that Muqtada Al-Sadr’s tweet did not constitute an embarrassment to the coordination framework, but rather would be the subject of discussion and study.
Al-Hamami said, "We never deny that Sayyid Muqtada al-Sadr's tweet against Barham Salih stirred up political circles, especially the Kurdish ones, and caused embarrassment for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan in the issue of his adherence to Salih as the only candidate for the presidency."
He added that "Sadr's tweet did not constitute an embarrassment to the coordination framework, but rather it will be the focus of discussion and a special study, and that the coordination framework has pledged to the chest bloc not to take decisions that disturb the chest bloc."
Al-Hamami advised the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, to “withdraw from the competition for the position of President of the Republic after the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, publicly announced his refusal to renew the mandate in favor of President of the Republic because he refused to ratify the law criminalizing normalization with the Zionist entity.”
