[size=45]The mayor of Erbil Governorate, Nabiz Abdul Hamid, confirmed, on Tuesday, the stability of commodity and food prices in local markets after the Kurdistan Regional Government's decision to cancel the collection of taxes and customs duties on imported ones.[/size]
[size=45]Abdul Hamid said in a statement he made to reporters that "the prices of commodities and foodstuffs have decreased in most stores against the background of the decision issued by the regional government to cancel taxes and customs duties on imports."[/size]
[size=45]He explained that this decision was very important, and helped in stabilizing food prices in the market, and dispelled previous fears of their rise.[/size]
[size=45]Abdul Hamid also indicated that dozens of health, commercial, veterinary and tourism committees are working under the supervision of the local government to follow up on a daily basis in the markets in terms of the quality of goods and materials and their prices, stressing that these committees monitor every shortcoming and violation, and deal with them according to the available legal procedures.[/size]
[size=45]He continued by saying that "economic security has a great role, which is doing its best to prevent the entry of expired and damaged materials," noting that "yesterday, more than 80 boxes of prohibited Indian meat were seized, as there was an attempt to bring them into the Erbil governorate in an unobtrusive manner, and they were seized. In the Khazir area, the accused were arrested.”[/size]
