Representative Alia Nassif warned that the Minister of Transport continued to waste public money because of his policies that made the ministry fall under the law after companies resorted to international arbitration and fined Iraq millions of dollars, indicating that the last thing the Transport Minister did was to implicate Iraq in a case in which a decision was issued by the International Court of Arbitration. The General Company for Air Navigation Services in Iraq gave him 30 days to attend the arbitration session.
And she said in a statement today: “We have previously published several statements in which we warned against the actions of the Minister of Transport, which caused companies to file lawsuits against Iraq and force it to pay fines in huge amounts, but the executive and supervisory authorities in Iraq have not yet taken measures regarding this dangerous file that includes A huge waste of public money.”
And she added: “Also, electronic flies rented by the corrupt started spreading fabricated news on Facebook pages accusing us of defending these companies, and today the truth has emerged and was published in news agencies backed by documents about the London-based International Court of Arbitration (ICC) addressing the company. The General Air Navigation Services and its demand to appoint a representative to attend the arbitration sessions and to respond to that within thirty days. Otherwise, the court will appoint an arbitrator on behalf of Iraq to attend the arbitration sessions of the case against him.”
Nassif asked: “Who will pay these fines, estimated at millions of dollars? It will certainly be paid from the state treasury and not from the minister’s pocket,” stressing “the need for the prime minister to immediately dismiss the Minister of Transport, open an investigation into this issue, and prevent him from traveling until the investigation is completed.”
