Shafaq News/ A group of American representatives placed the Iraq file among the files of US President Joe Biden before he started his tour in the Middle East, which he entered through the Israeli gate, as they asked him to clarify during his regional tour the United States' opposition to the recent law approved by the Iraqi parliament, criminalizing normalization with Israel .
According to a report by the American "Jewish Insider" website, which specializes in Jewish news, translated by Shafak News Agency, a group of 24 representatives from the Democratic and Republican parties in the House and Senate urged President Biden on Tuesday, that is, before his flight to the region, to clarify Washington's position. of the new Iraqi law.
The US report mentioned that Baghdad recently passed the law that affirms that normalization with Israel is punishable by death, an initiative that the US State Department had condemned.
The report quoted the message of the American representatives as saying, "Iraq is an important and valuable security partner. Despite this, this law threatens freedom of expression and enhances the climate of anti-Semitism, and it can deter other countries that have not normalized relations with Israel so far."
And the letter from the US House of Representatives continues to tell Biden, "As you prepare to travel to the Middle East, we respectfully urge you to raise the anti-normalization law in Iraq during your visits with foreign leaders and to clarify the firm US condemnation of it."
In addition to denouncing the new Iraqi law, the letter from the US House of Representatives praises the Ibrahim agreements and the "unlimited" possibilities they raise for the future.
