, Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) deputy, Tohma Al-Lahibi, said on Monday that the delay in forming the government has nothing to do with the election of the president of the republic.
Al-Luhaibi said in an interview with the official "Al-Sabah" newspaper, followed by Mawazine News, that "the party is continuing negotiations with the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, yet we insist on our electoral entitlement, because the Democrat is the largest bloc in the Kurdish blocs."
He added, "It is possible that the negotiations will reach a dead end, and as a result we go to the stage of voting for the candidate for the position of President of the Republic under the dome of Parliament. Whoever wins the vote takes the position and we support him greatly, and this is the democratic mechanism."
He pointed out that "the delay in the formation of the government has nothing to do with the election of the president of the republic, because it is a settled matter, whether for (Al-Parti) or (Al-Ekti) or any other Kurdish figure, but the matter must be resolved within the coordination framework by naming a prime minister.
