Shafaq News/ Today, Tuesday, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the Iraqi parties concerned with the current developments in the political scene to exercise "restraint" and form an "inclusive and broadly representative" government.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement that it "is following with concern the current developments in Baghdad," while expressing its hope that "the political ambiguity that formed the basis for the recent developments in Iraq will disappear at the earliest opportunity, and the formation of a comprehensive and broadly representative government without wasting more time to meet aspirations of the Iraqi people.
"We respect the right of Iraqis to express their views and aspirations through democratic means, and in this context, we stress the need to avoid violence and give priority to maintaining public order, and we call on all parties concerned to act wisely and with restraint," the Turkish Foreign Ministry added.
The political scene in Iraq has undergone serious developments since supporters of the Sadrist movement led by prominent Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr stormed the parliament building in the fortified Green Zone in central Baghdad, and protested against the nomination of the coordination framework, Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, for the position of Prime Minister for the next federal government.
On Monday, demonstrations against the Sadrist movement took place near the suspension bridge leading to the Green Zone, after an invitation from the "Organizing Committee to Support Legitimacy and Preserve State Institutions."
