A member of the National Wisdom Movement, Ahmed Al-Issawi, revealed that the parliament session will be held even without the speaker and his deputy, noting that the site in which it will be held is completely ready.
Member of the National Wisdom Movement, Ahmed Al-Issawi, today, Saturday (August 27, 2022), that the parliament session that was scheduled to be held after all the signatures of 180 deputies, was postponed to “open the door for dialogue and not pressure the opposing party.”
He explained that the request to hold the session will be submitted within days to the Presidency of the Council, pointing out that the first session will be to “activate the legislative authority in the country, and then there will be steps to elect the President of the Republic and assign the Prime Minister.”
Ahmed Al-Issawi stated that the session will be in Baghdad, but will not be held in Parliament in order to “preserve the lives of the demonstrators, not to destabilize the situation of the Iraqi street, and to prevent the use of force against the demonstrators.”
He added that the session will be held "in an area close to the Green Zone, which is also a presidential area, which was used to hold council meetings in the past."
A member of the National Wisdom Movement saw that the important matter would be the attendance of 180 deputies, noting that the independents, the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Alliance of Sovereignty would be invited to attend. Then we will go to early elections.”
He noted that "the government will be more like a temporary government for a year or more, but it will proceed in constitutional ways to preserve people's lives, and not to plunge Iraq into the abyss."
He added that the coming days will witness setting the date of the session, indicating that they have 180 deputies, except for the Sovereignty Alliance, the Kurdistan Democratic Party, some independent representatives and some important parties in the country.
Regarding the demands of the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, he saw that his biggest wish is to “go to early elections and dissolve parliament,” adding that this will be raised in the House of Representatives after the election of the President of the Republic, and assigning the Prime Minister to form a new government and change the Commission and the election law.
A member of the National Wisdom Movement, expressed his belief that all these steps will be achieved within a period not exceeding a month and a half, saying that “the country needs a “permanent government” to manage it and end the problems it faces, such as people’s salaries and interests and the budget.
In this regard, he pointed out that “everything is on hold until the budget is approved,” which puts pressure on the government, noting that “the Emergency Support Law for Food Security and Development was approved to “manage people’s interests, not solve their problems.”
Ahmed Al-Issawi, warned that dissolving the parliament and going to early elections, in the manner demanded by the Sadrist movement, would threaten the stability of Iraq.
