    Economy News - Baghdad
The Ministry of Agriculture confirmed, on Thursday, that importing Lebanese agricultural crops will not affect the local product, revealing an upcoming meeting with neighboring countries to be held next week to arrange cooperation conditions and the supply of products.
The official spokesman for the ministry, Hamid Al-Nayef, said that "the agricultural products that will be imported from Lebanon will not affect the local product, because most types are not originally planted in Iraq, such as mangoes, avocados and other products," according to the official newspaper.
He added, "The aim of the import process is to help Lebanon because it is going through difficult economic conditions and has redundant products," noting that "these products were previously imported from Egypt and other countries and are subject to damage due to the distance."
Al-Nayef revealed that "next week will witness the holding of a four-way conference between Iraq, Syria, Jordan and Lebanon, to understand the establishment of a company that overcomes import obstacles and ensures the entry of goods with high specifications, with high specifications, as well as discussing a mechanism to save effort and time."
He explained, "The import process is carried out by the private sector and the Baghdad Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture by providing support to importers and facilitating their work. Under the fuel agreement, Iraq opened an account in the Bank of Lebanon in exchange for fuel, managed by the Iraqi Ministry of Finance, to purchase services inside Lebanon." in Lebanese Pounds.
