Today, Monday, the Iraqi parliament said that it intends to discuss a request submitted by 170 deputies to hold a session to elect the president of the republic within two days.

The Shiite coordination framework suspended its negotiations on forming a government until the two Kurdish parties agreed to nominate a candidate for the presidency.

The Democratic Party is still sticking to Minister Reber Ahmed as a candidate for the presidency, while the National Union insists on the nomination of the current president, Barham Salih.
