Today, Monday, President Abdel Latif Rashid expressed his hope to speed up the formation of the new government, while stressing that all efforts will be made to protect the constitution.
"I thank the supreme religious authority and representatives of the Iraqi people for giving me their confidence," Rashid said in a speech he delivered during his inauguration ceremony at the Peace Palace in Baghdad.
During his speech, the President of the Republic recalled the wounded and martyrs of the armed forces of all kinds, expressing his hope "to speed up the formation of the government as soon as possible."
He stressed, "to make every effort to protect the constitution and solve existing problems," noting his "striving to establish strong relations with neighboring countries and the international community."
He continued, "In the near future, I will announce to the Iraqi people a practical program in the presidency of the Iraqi Republic."
