Today, Sunday, the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee identified the categories that will be excluded from the Military Service Law.
Committee member Muhammad Rasool said in a press statement, “The law on military service came from previous governments and has been in the parliament since previous sessions,” noting that “one of the committees’ tasks is to read all laws that come from the government as they came, and then they can be amended in the second reading by the council. He added that "most countries in the world have a science service law," noting that "objections are a normal condition and all points of disagreement can be modified and corrected to be in harmony with Iraqi society."
He pointed out that "the law includes all those without a certificate, as well as those who have an intermediate certificate, it serves 18 months, and those who have a middle school certificate serve for one year, a bachelor's degree is nine months, a master's degree is six months, and a doctorate is three months," noting that "there is an opinion to serve PhD and can be abolished.
He continued, "The salary was not mentioned in the law, but opinions ranged between 300,000 and 500,000 dinars, and this needs to be studied with the current government to allocate the budget," explaining that "the law is applied when it is approved and includes ages from 18 to 45 years, and there are opinions to reduce it until the age of 40, and there are exceptions For those who are alone for their family and for those who continue to study.
He pointed out, "The employee continues to receive the salary from his department and is taken to the military service to spend the period, after which he returns to his previous work in his department."
