The Prime Minister of Kurdistan Regional Government, Nechirvan Barzani, welcomed, on Friday, what the Luxembourg Parliament approved yesterday to consider the crimes of ISIS against the Yazidis in Iraq as crimes of “genocide.”
Masrour Barzani said in a tweet today on the social networking sites "Twitter", that he strongly welcomes this decision.
He added that this declaration helps create a greater sense of accountability for a society that yearns for security and the return of its ancestral homeland.
On August 3, 2014, ISIS elements attacked Sinjar district, western Nineveh Governorate, killing and wounding a large number of Yazidis, as well as displacing them and destroying their areas.
Despite the kidnapping of thousands of others, mostly Yazidi women and children, the fate of many of them is still unknown.
