On Thursday, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, said that his government delegations will continue to visit the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, to resolve disputes and outstanding issues with the federal government, stressing that the region will not compromise on its rights established by the country's permanent constitution.
Masrour Barzani said, in his speech on the sidelines of the ceremony of laying the foundation stone for the British University in Erbil, that the development of the education sector, higher education and scientific research is evidence of the cultural awareness of our people, and that he is very happy to develop this sector through the construction of practical centers, stressing that Undoubtedly, this issue will help increase cultural and practical awareness in the region.
He added, "We have many universities in the Kurdistan Region, each of which is important and has its own specialization and privacy, and it had positive effects on our society," indicating that the British University can leave an important imprint within the cultural, educational and awareness project.
The head of the regional government also stressed that his government is working to develop the global sector and has taken it among its priorities, and will provide assistance in this field, and work to develop study centers in the region and to be among the global centers.
Masrour Barzani touched on the problems facing the educational process in the region, and said we have problems with student housing and attention to the demands of professors and teaching staff, and we do not forget that our ambitions are great, and they are greater than our capabilities available to us, but we will not stop supporting the educational sector and we will continue with enthusiasm in this matter.
He noted that this university is one of the branches of the International University of London. We hope that this branch will be able to provide a lot of practical services in the region.
Masrour Barzani spoke about the relations between Erbil and Baghdad, and said, "We are continuing to improve conditions in the region, and our delegations are continuing dialogues with the federal government, and will continue to visit Baghdad to reach solutions to disputes and outstanding issues."
