     Shafaq News/ The Iraqi Ministry of Electricity revealed, on Tuesday, that the last phase of the electrical connection with Jordan will reach a capacity of 960 megawatts, indicating that the connections with neighboring countries prepare Iraq to enter the energy market.



    The ministry's spokesman, Ahmed Musa, told Shafaq News agency, "The electrical connection with Jordan consists of three phases, and the first phase of the Iraqi-Jordanian electrical interconnection project has been signed, and work has begun," noting that "the first phase will add 150 megawatts of energy, and the second It will add 500 megawatts of energy, and the third will add 900 megawatts of energy." ".
    He added, "The line system for electrical interconnection with Jordan will be turned into a double circuit in the second and third phases, and will add 960 megawatts of energy."
    He pointed out that "the connection with Jordan will provide the regions of Al-Qaim, Husaybah, Akashat and the city of Al-Rutba with energy, after these areas suffered from the destruction of the electricity sector infrastructure, and therefore they are almost deprived of electricity. This connection will greatly revive them, in addition to that the connection will revive the phosphate plant in western Iraq is an important phosphate production plant.
    He stressed that "electrical interconnection projects are considered among the important projects for the exchange of energy benefits and preparing Iraq's entry into the energy market, whether it is Arab or Gulf, and then achieving high stability and reliability of the electrical network technically."
    Iraq is seeking the process of electrical interconnection with neighboring countries, including Turkey, Jordan and the Arab Gulf, in order to reduce the energy deficit, especially during peak summer days.
