    Baghdad - Conscious - Hassan Al-Fawwaz
Today, Monday, the Human Rights Committee in the House of Representatives set a date for voting on the expert committee responsible for selecting the Board of Commissioners, while recommending the replacement of the prison food processing company.
A member of the committee, Wahda al-Jumaili, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the House of Representatives bears a very great responsibility, which is to select a committee of experts consisting of 15 members, including 12 members from the House of Representatives, and one person from the Judicial Council and civil society organizations.” And the Council of Ministers," pointing out that "this committee will be responsible for selecting the Board of Commissioners, which consists of 15 members, in addition to the reserves."
Al-Jumaili added, "The vote on the parliamentary experts will take place after the parliamentary committee resumes its work after 9/1/2023."
Regarding the quality of food provided to inmates in prisons, Al-Jumaili explained: “Through our prison visits, we diagnose feeding, and cases of deterioration in the quality and efficiency of food, in addition to the very small quantities distributed to prisoners.”
She pointed out, "The Ministry of Justice has made it clear that it is not responsible for the feeding contract, but rather it was voted on in one of the cabinet sessions, and therefore the latter is responsible for changing the feeding contract," stressing "The need to change the company responsible for the food."
And she added, "The shops were imposed on the inmates, but not all the inmates had money."
