Today, Saturday, Minister of Commerce Atheer Daoud Al-Ghurairy announced the launch of the first portion of the food and flour basket for the year 2023, starting tomorrow, Sunday.
The media office of the Ministry of Commerce stated in a statement, "Foodstuff companies, grain processing and grain trading have completed their technical and administrative preparations to secure basket and wheat materials to launch the first meal of the food basket and flour for the current year, starting tomorrow, Sunday, in implementation of the directives of the Minister of Commerce to unify the supply of food and flour basket materials." According to the marketing plan prepared for this purpose.
The statement indicated that "the grain and foodstuff manufacturing companies directed the marketing department at their general headquarters and their branches in the governorates to start cutting the lists of supplying agents with flour and the food basket for the new ration, and issuing circulars that include a schedule of cutting dates and reviewing the agents according to the specific timelines according to the central marketing plan." , that "coordination is underway between the grain manufacturing and grain trading companies to launch grain mixtures intended for mills in charge of producing the first share of flour that is distributed according to the ration card system."
The statement called on "agents of foodstuffs and flour to review the cutting centers in Baghdad and the governorates to receive the processing lists at the specified dates for each center, taking into account the priority of processing for the poorest areas, and to prepare schedules that take into account the timing of the sequence in processing," stressing "the commitment to organizing the cutting process and coordinating the review of agents." And directing cutting centers to express cooperation in applying procedures to facilitate the review of agents, and supervisory committees to educate citizens to follow up on the quality of foodstuffs, flour, the stamp of the mill and the date of production before receiving their shares in order to avoid any cases of manipulation in the quantities distributed and to report negative cases.
The statement pointed out that "the staffing of food companies in all locations in Baghdad and the provinces continued their work, including official holidays, in preparation for the start of preparing food and flour basket materials, and distributing them to citizens in one batch and unified timings without delay or shortage in any material," noting that the General Trading Company Foodstuffs continue to sell flour (Das) and French (Duvelac) milk by direct selling to citizens at competitive prices through sales centers in Baghdad and the provinces in conjunction with the start of the cutting process.
The statement called on all citizens to "receive their quotas of flour and food basket materials after ensuring the safety of the supplied quantities and to report violations, if any, by contacting the control department or the branches of the grain and foodstuff manufacturing companies in the governorates, or through the official websites of the ministry and companies or the announced hotlines." of the Ministry of Commerce and its formations, for the purpose of taking appropriate measures against violators.
