Shafaq News/ The Kurdistan Region Presidency announced, on Thursday, that the United States of America has reaffirmed the continuation of military and human assistance to the Peshmerga forces and the region to meet the challenges posed by the terrorist organization ISIS in order to maintain the security and stability of the region and the region.
A statement of the Presidency of the region, received by Shafaq News agency, stated that, under the supervision of the Deputy President of the Region, Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa, and in the presence of representatives of the President of the Region's Government, the Region's Security Council, and the Ministry of Peshmerga, a meeting was held in the Presidency of the Kurdistan Region with a group of American military advisors, a representative of the American Office for Iraqi Security Cooperation, and an advisor The US Department of Defense, and the political and economic unit at the US Consulate in Erbil, with the aim of discussing the terms of the program of understanding between America and the Kurdistan Region.
The statement indicated that during the meeting, the US relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region were emphasized, as well as the issue of "confronting ISIS terrorists who pose a real threat to security and stability in Iraq and the region."
He indicated that the two sides agreed on the necessity of accelerating and developing the steps of the reform project and unifying the Peshmerga forces into a united national force.
The statement added that the US representatives announced their full support for the success of the reform project and the reorganization of the Peshmerga forces of Kurdistan, stressing that the US delegation reaffirmed that his country will continue to provide military and human assistance to the Peshmerga and the Kurdistan Region.
