The Parliamentary Services and Reconstruction Committee confirmed, on Saturday, that the draft law on the ownership of agricultural and informal lands is under preparation and study, and there are no obstacles to the law.
Committee member Hussein Habib said in a televised interview followed by "Al-Eqtisad News" that "his committee is waiting for the government to receive a draft law on ownership of agricultural and informal lands," stressing that "this law is in the public interest and is beneficial to families who were forced to live in agricultural and informal areas."
Habib added, "The number of slums and agricultural areas is large, and it takes a long time to accurately count them, organize them, include them, and present them in the law."
He pointed out that "the Parliamentary Services Committee will not hesitate or delay in studying the issue and reading the law for the first time, then discussing it and voting on it, as it is in the great interest of citizens and needy families."
He stressed that "the law so far represents a government proposal and is with the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, and is under preparation and study," noting that "there are no major obstacles or conflicts before the law."
