    Information/Special..
A member of the Victory Coalition, Aqil Al-Radini, said today, Saturday, that America did not allow the Silk Road project for fear that economic power would shift to China, while he confirmed that the development path is the alternative and could become part of the Silk Road in the future.
Al-Radini said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, "The contracts concluded with Chinese companies to establish the development road could turn into the Silk Road in the coming years," noting that "America did not allow the Silk Road project earlier for fear that the economic powers in the region would shift to China."
He added that "America often plays with many methods to maintain its dominance over the global economy in the presence of its greatest competitor, China," noting that "the development path is an alternative to silk and could turn into silk if it is exploited in the coming years."
Al-Radini concluded his speech by saying: “The Iraqi government is working to move the stagnant waters of the Silk Road with a new and different vision and through the gateway of development,” stressing that “Chinese companies will rush to develop and build their projects in Iraq as soon as it is completed.”
It is noteworthy that the development road will link the Grand Faw Port south of Basra to the northern border with Turkey, and will cost $17 billion and will be completed in 2050, while the Iraqi Silk Road includes the construction of new industrial and residential cities and will encourage trade in goods between Europe and the Middle East countries, and even between China, India and the countries of the Old Continent.
