Shafaq News/ The Jordanian Chamber of Commerce announced on Sunday that Iraq came at the forefront of countries importing commercial goods from Jordan during the first half of the current year 2024, which is the third year in a row.
The Chamber explained in a statement seen by Shafaq News Agency, that "Iraq topped the list of Arab countries importing from Jordan in terms of the value of imported goods during the first half of this year, as the value of imports amounted to 313 million Jordanian dinars, followed by Switzerland and Egypt with 50 million Jordanian dinars each, then Saudi Arabia with 49 million dinars, and finally the Emirates with 48 million Jordanian dinars."
The Chamber indicated that "the Amman Chamber of Commerce issues certificates of origin for agricultural and animal products and raw Jordanian natural resources, as well as for foreign goods that are re-exported." It added that "the number of certificates of origin issued to Iraq reached 1,154 certificates during the first half of this year."
The Chamber reported that "its exports during the first half of 2024 were distributed among foreign products (re-exports) worth 330 million dinars, followed by industrial products worth nearly 132 million dinars, then agricultural products worth nearly 81 million dinars, and Arab products worth about 46 million dinars, while the rest of the exports went to other products."
It is worth noting that the US dollar is equivalent to approximately 0.70 Jordanian dinars.
The Jordanian Chamber of Commerce previously announced that Iraq came first as the largest importer of commercial goods during the past years 2022, 2023.
It is worth noting that Iraq imports most of its goods and commodities from neighboring countries, especially Turkey and Iran, after Jordan was a major market for it in the nineties of the last century during the period of the economic blockade on the country.
