Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fouad Hussein confirmed today, Thursday, that Iraq's foreign policy is based on bringing the views of neighboring countries closer together and adopting the principle of dialogue.
And the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, in a statement received by (Al-Oula News), that “Hussein received the Dutch Foreign Minister, Wopke Hoekstra, on the sidelines of the annual Davos conference, and during the meeting they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and a number of regional issues of common concern.”
She added, "Hussein gave a brief explanation on the latest political developments in Iraq," stressing that "the Iraqi government pays attention to providing services and rebuilding the Iraqi economy, based on the good financial situation that Iraq enjoys with the aim of providing the best services," touching on "the need to invest Dutch experiences in the fields of agriculture and water, because the Netherlands has experience in these two fields.
Hussein continued, "Iraq's foreign policy is based on converging views between neighboring countries and adopting the principle of dialogue, in order to ensure the security and stability of the region, which is reflected in the security of the countries of the world," noting that "there is a great interaction between security inside Iraq and security in the region." .
He added, "Iraq is monitoring the security situation in Syria," considering that "any destabilization of the situation inside Syria will negatively affect the security of Iraq and the region, due to the presence of terrorist groups in al-Hawl camp and prisons inside the Syrian lands adjacent to the Iraqi borders."
He pointed out that "Iraq has gone through many wars and suffering during the past five decades, and that its policy has changed radically after 2023, the establishment of a democratic system and openness to the countries of the region and the world."
For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands stated that “there are reasons that call for real interaction with regard to Iraq,” directing an official invitation to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein to participate in the Artificial Intelligence Summit, which will be held in The Hague on 2/16/2023.
