Foreign Minister: Iraq's policy aims to strengthen relations with neighboring countries
    Baghdad - Conscious
Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim said Thursday that Iraq's policy is aimed at strengthening relations with neighboring countries.
According to a foreign ministry statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (AA), "Al-Hakim delivered an interview at the Dutch Klinkal Institute for International Relations entitled "Iraq in the Middle East: A Battlefield or a Bridge of Convergence."
The statement added that al-Hakim focused in his lecture on the political, economic and security priorities of the partnership between Iraq and the European Union countries, in addition to highlighting the important points of Iraq's foreign policy aimed at strengthening relations with neighboring countries, as well as the measures it has taken. The Iraqi government is building the best relations with countries around the world, reviewing the developments of the situation in Syria, Yemen, the Crisis between The United States and Iran, and the tension between Saudi Arabia and Iran."
Al-Hakim explained during the lecture that "Iraq made efforts to bring the views closer and calm the situation in the region, and also addressed the important developments in Iraq's relationship with the Netherlands, welcoming the success of the first round of political negotiations held in The Hague in February 2018." The second round will be held in Baghdad before the end of this year."
The minister expressed his appreciation for the Dutch government's positions in support of Iraq politically, securityly, economically and in particular the Dutch government's decision to place Iraq among the countries of special interest, and the resulting strategy to support Iraq in the water management, agriculture and education sectors."
"Iraq is working to develop its economy, create enough jobs for young people, and begin to rebuild its infrastructure after it has once and for all defeated the terrorist organization ISIS, and achieved clear stability," he said.
