Baghdad - Mawazine News
, Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani expressed, on Wednesday, his hope that his visit to France would be a good sign and that it would lay the right foundations for a sustainable partnership
. Iraq is regional and international on the basis of cooperation and balance, moving away from the policy of axes, and adopting a policy of partnership with many countries of the world, especially France.
He pointed out that "the response of Baghdad and Paris to the common sense of the strategic importance of the relationship between our two countries prompted our government to show more keenness to develop that bilateral relationship and build on its solid foundations."
He added, "When Iraq faced the dangers of terrorism and fought a fateful war with the forces of evil and darkness, in defense of itself, the region and the world, France was the first to provide assistance and participate in the recovery of Iraq's lands, especially in the war to liberate Mosul, in addition to the joint cooperation between us in the aspects of armament, training and intelligence effort." All of this indicates a long-term strategic partnership between Baghdad and Paris to ensure the preservation of the achievements made in the fight against terrorism and stability in the region.
He continued, "Our country's desire to consolidate military and security cooperation with the French side is consistent with our goal of raising the combat capabilities of our security forces, and it is now achieving that goal, which makes Iraq not in need of foreign combat forces, but rather advisory forces to meet the training and equipment needs of our forces." It means that we need to constantly review the relationship with the international coalition and draw a map for future cooperation in light of the constant development in the combat capabilities of our armed forces.
In a separate context, Al-Sudani said, "The advancement of the national economy is a top priority for the Iraqi government, and our government aims to make optimal use of the huge economic capabilities. Iraq is the second largest oil producer in OPEC and possesses one of the largest oil and gas reserves in the world, and giant companies such as Total Energy and Alstom are welcome to work." In Iraq in the field of energy, such as exploiting associated gas, injecting water into oil wells, developing renewable energy production, and also the suspended Baghdad metro project to reduce traffic congestion in the capital, which we attach great importance to, and these are good examples of partnership and economic cooperation.
And he indicated, "Our government intends to be a major driving force in regional diplomacy and political tracks, and this was clearly demonstrated in the Baghdad 2 Conference held with the support of President Macron recently in the Jordanian capital, Amman, as we were keen on Iraq's refusal to use its lands as a springboard to threaten neighboring countries, demonstrating our rejection at the time." He rejected any encroachments on our lands.”
And he continued, "Iraq, through its distinguished relations with its regional surroundings, has become a meeting place for the disparate parties to meet and an endeavor to bridge the distances between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Iran, based on our belief that the stability of the region is achieved by overcoming tensions, and we will continue in our endeavors to bring views closer between Tehran and Riyadh, as we believe that Dialogue and meetings are the only way to reach common ground and for those understandings to reach an advanced stage in the upcoming meetings and gatherings.
He noted that "cooperation between Paris and Baghdad has multiple aspects, as it extends to the health, educational, cultural and climatic sectors. France is working to preserve the environment and combat the effects and risks of climate change, and we would like to build a continuous partnership in protecting heritage and combating antiquities smuggling. On the health side, France has taken an initiative to build a hospital in The city of Sinjar, and this is the place of our thanks and appreciation for the effort made to support an important component of our people."
He added, "Iraq is committed to its democracy and respect for the rights of its people, and there is no evidence of our commitment to this from the decision that we took with the right of the Yazidis to own their homes and lands in Sinjar after nearly 50 years of depriving them of this right. We know the destiny of Iraq and we respect the destiny of Iraqis of all sects and sects and are convinced." The unity of the Iraqi people is the key to their strength, which they are proud of and consolidate our unity as Iraqis who all strive for progress, brotherhood, equality and justice. Ended 29/N33
