The Minister of Environment, Eng. Nizar Amidi, stressed the preparation of the adaptation plan for the Kurdistan Region and support for increasing the flexibility of the sectors affected by climate change in the Kurdistan Region.
This came during his inauguration of the workshop for the preparation of the adaptation plan for the Kurdistan Region, where he explained the great effects that Iraq suffers from as a result of the effects of climate changes such as water scarcity, land degradation, desertification, and the impact of ecosystems.
Stressing that the preparation of this plan will support increasing the flexibility of the sectors affected by climate change in the Kurdistan Region and will help implement Iraq's commitments to the Paris Climate Agreement and the Iraqi National Contributions Document.
The Minister of Environment indicated the need to integrate youth and women, combat poverty, achieve social cohesion and achieve sustainable development goals in preparing this document.
The Minister of Environment, Naza Amidi, expressed his thanks and appreciation to the United Nations Development Program and the United States Agency for International Development for supporting and implementing this project.
