    Economy News - Baghdad
The Ministry of Water Resources confirmed, on Tuesday, that the Iraqi dams are operating normally and were not affected by the earthquake that struck parts of Turkey and Syria.
"The Mosul Dam and other Iraqi dams were not affected by the earthquake and other aftershocks," Ali Radi Thamer, Director General of the General Authority for Dams and Reservoirs, said in a statement.
He added, "The ministry mobilized its staff working in the dams, and conducted a visual examination, and an examination of the sensors deployed in the Mosul Dam, and showed that the Iraqi dams, especially the Mosul Dam, were not affected by the earthquake and aftershocks."
He stressed, "We are ready to receive any amount of water if it is received, especially since there is a storage vacuum in the dams that enables us to deal with any water wave," noting that "preliminary information indicates that the dams in Syria and Turkey are in good condition."
