Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani said that cooperation continues between Iraq and the United States of America in the field of countering terrorism, reiterating at the same time that combating rampant financial and administrative corruption in state institutions and departments is one of the priorities of his government's work. This came during the hosting of the Prime Minister at a press conference on the sidelines. Munich Security Conference held in Germany.
And Al-Sudani stated during the symposium, "We are working with everyone to combat terrorism, and America is cooperating with us in this security field, and this is important for Iraq, and we have a strategic framework agreement, which enhances cooperation between the two countries."
On Iraq's relations with Iran and the United States, the prime minister said: "There is no concern in this regard."
Al-Sudani considered that corruption in Iraq is "a burden that burdens his government," and said: "Fighting corruption is difficult, and that corruption has caused political and security problems for the country." He added that "fighting corruption is at the forefront of the government's agenda and has priority," stressing "the necessity Reforms in all state institutions and combating corruption.
And the Sudanese Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia'a, continued to receive and meet with international officials on the sidelines of his participation in the 59th Munich Security Conference, where he received at his residence, yesterday morning, Saturday, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
The meeting witnessed discussions on the files of bilateral relations, and ways to enhance and develop them at various levels and fields, in a way that enhances Iraq's ability to face economic challenges and development requirements.
Al-Sudani affirmed that Iraq gives special priority to economic reforms, the government's focus on developing the energy sector, and the establishment of development and investment partnerships in the gas sector.
He also explained Iraq's desire to consolidate cooperation with the United States to combat terrorism, within the framework of providing training and advice and exchanging information with the Iraqi security forces, in a way that preserves Iraq's sovereignty and independence, stressing that the government puts the goal of establishing balanced relations at the fore, in addition to the importance of the Iraqi role in stabilizing stability in the region.
For his part, Blinken praised the Iraqi government's plans for reform and development, and gave the energy sector a priority in work and development. He affirmed the US government's appreciation of Iraq's regional role in stabilizing stability, and reaffirmed support for the Iraqi government in its progressive, reform and development plans in various fields and fields.
Prime Minister Mohamed Shia Al-Sudani met, at his residence in the German city of Munich, British Foreign Minister James Cleverly, and the meeting witnessed a review of bilateral relations and ways of developing them between the two countries, and discussed developments in regional and international conditions, as well as discussing strengthening cooperation and partnership frameworks in various economic, cultural and educational fields and sectors. and in the fields of energy and investment.
Al-Sudani affirmed Iraq's aspiration for balanced relations at the regional and international levels, and its desire to enhance the horizons of cooperation with Britain, and to exploit the available capabilities in order to build various economic partnerships, and referred to the economic reforms adopted by the government program, which would advance the reality and development of Iraq.
For his part, the British Foreign Secretary affirmed his country's commitment to everything that would enhance stability in Iraq, and also affirmed his country's support for the economic development path pursued by the current government, towards further development and economic integration.
The Prime Minister also met, at his residence, on Friday evening, the President of the European Commission, Ursal Vondralen, and during the meeting, they reviewed the relations between Iraq and the entire European Union, where Al-Sudani affirmed Iraq's desire to enter into advanced development partnerships with the countries of the Union in various fields.
Al-Sudani indicated that his meetings with the leaders of Germany, France and Italy come on the path of economic cooperation, and building bonds of cooperation to face economic challenges and the effects of climate change and build stability and sustainable development, referring to the framework agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the European Investment Bank, and the openness to the investments and contribution of European companies. In the service sector in Iraq, he also indicated the importance of the European Union's support for the government's efforts to combat corruption and recover wanted persons and stolen funds.
For her part, Vondralen expressed her support for the Prime Minister and his reform decisions, and the willingness of all European Union countries to cooperate with Iraq, in light of the long-term partnerships. She pointed to the seriousness of European countries in finding real partnerships in the fields of energy and renewable energy.
Prime Minister Mohamed Shia Al-Sudani also discussed with the Secretary-General of the International Criminal Police Organization "Interpol" Jürgen Stock, activating bilateral cooperation in the field of recovering money and wanted persons. Al-Sudani stressed during the meeting that the theft of public money is one of the most important challenges facing Iraq, and that combating corruption is among the priorities of the government program, and indicated that the government's procedures require cooperation from the organization, especially in dealing with requests submitted regarding financial crimes.
He explained that the theft of public money and the use of the global financial system to smuggle and launder money is an international crime that crosses borders, and has harmed Iraq, in addition to being one of the most important enablers of terrorism. He stressed that retrieving those wanted for these crimes is one of the most important steps to deter this crime.
Al-Sudani called on the International Organization of Interpol to provide support in the field of training and capacity-building for the cadres working in the headquarters and the new Interpol offices at the border crossings, as well as cooperation in the field of exchanging security information with the member countries of the international organization, and in the field of supporting investigations of financial crimes related to money laundering. and terrorist financing, and the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
The Prime Minister expressed Iraq's desire to make the most of the fields provided by the Interpol organization, and to contribute to the dissemination of all blue and green notifications for perpetrators of terrorism crimes, especially the information that is shared in the Interpol databases within the Foreign Terrorist Fighters project.
For his part, the Secretary-General of Interpol expressed the organization's readiness to cooperate with Iraq in urging countries to recover stolen funds, wanted persons and those convicted of corruption cases, and indicated that Interpol established a specialized department a year ago, and a special bulletin will be issued on financial crimes committed in Iraq.
