Shafaq News/ Dozens of civil society organizations in Sulaymaniyah demanded, on Sunday, the government and parliament of the Kurdistan Region to draw up an annual budget to be approved by the region's parliament to show revenues and expenditures.

Civil activist Hussam Al-Barzanji said, during a press conference attended by Shafaq News Agency, "For more than ten years, the Kurdistan Region has been without a financial budget, and this negatively affected services as well as the transparency of financial transactions."
He added, "More than a year ago, we announced a campaign to put pressure on the government to send its financial budget to parliament for approval in a transparent manner, but we have not received a response yet."
He continued, "We are now calling on the Presidency of the Parliament of Kurdistan to host the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Planning to find out the reasons for not sending the financial budget to Parliament for more than ten years."
turn; During the press conference, the deputy in the regional parliament, Othman Sidri, announced his support for the demands of civil society organizations, stressing that he will present these demands to the Presidency of Parliament.
He pointed out that "the presence of a financial budget for the region will be a catalyst for solving many problems, in addition to that its presence will support transparency, especially with regard to financial imports."
