    Baghdad - IQ

Former Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi spoke, on Sunday, during a press interview, about several files related to his assumption of the position of prime minister, while revealing details related to the body of the former head of the regime, Saddam Hussein, after his execution in 2006. In his first interview since the end

of His duties at the head of the Iraqi government. During an interview with Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, Al-Kazemi said, "Some are trying to demonize me and blame my government for all the defects of the political system and previous governments in the past twenty years." He revealed that corruption devoured more than $600 billion of Iraqi funds, "used for the benefit of individuals, party and military entities, and regional roles." He said, "Unfortunately, there are those who want to clean up their bad history in governance, and for this they blame the Al-Kazemi government, which has no party, militia, or parliamentary bloc," accusing those parties of obstructing the work of his government.

Al-Kazemi considered the return of Iraq to its Arab depth as natural, while respecting the interests of all its neighbors, stressing that the Shiite authority in Iraq supports this approach, pointing out that Iraq sought to build its relations "from state to state" and on the basis of respect for mutual interests. He indicated that he sensed the interest of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in deepening and expanding Saudi-Iraqi relations.

Al-Kazemi acknowledged that his government had not succeeded in addressing the "problem of uncontrolled weapons," and talked about the killings that targeted political activists, which were sometimes carried out by elements who infiltrated the security services during the era of previous governments.

During the interview, Al-Kadhimi talked about seeing Saddam Hussein, in the first session of his trial, saying: "I went to see the historical moment, and it was a very difficult and decisive historical moment in the history of Iraq, but unfortunately those of Saddam Hussein's victims who attended were not at the level of responsibility. They were talking about what happened." He owed him personal gains, a house from here and a car from there in the session (Saddam Hussein's trial), and thus they minimized Saddam Hussein's crimes.

He added, "The second time they threw his body between my house and the house of Mr. Nuri al-Maliki in the Green Zone after his execution. I refused this action, but I saw a group of guards gathered and asked them to move away from the body out of respect for the sanctity of the dead."
