    The French capital, Paris, witnessed today, Wednesday, the launch of the activities of the Arab-French Summit of Chambers of Commerce under the auspices of French President Emmanuel Macron and with the participation of an Iraqi government delegation.
    The summit includes five sessions, focusing on trade in the fields of food, medicine, environmental and water files, as well as banking reform and banking facilities.
    Vicente René, head of the Arab-French Chamber of Commerce, said: "We hope to form a single working chamber, especially in the field of environment and water, from the stakeholders in France and the Arab partners, for the success of the summit."
    He added, "It is believed that French companies should place medium and small projects under their wing," noting that "there is a unified French position supporting the Arab world in the field of economy and investment, and annually we hold a summit with partners in the economic fields and support for medium and small projects."
    And he continued, "I salute the Arab federations that attended, especially the Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League," pointing to "Arab and international interest in participating in the summit, despite the circumstances in France, which indicates Arab interest in this summit."
    And he added, "We are still living through difficult economic conditions, as a result of Corona, and then the Russian intervention in Ukraine, and yet we continue efforts to move things forward."
    He pointed out, "The decline in foreign trade, and we suffered a lot from that, and we made efforts to improve the situation of foreign trade."
    For his part, the President of the Federation of Arab Chambers of Commerce, Samir Abdullah, said, "The Federation of Arab Chambers has succeeded, through its great interest in developing economic relations with various countries of the world, including the Arab-French Chamber of Commerce, to strengthen relations between the Arab private sector and the French private sector and build bridges of joint cooperation with France, which is an important partner of the Arab world.
    He added, "The world today is experiencing a difficult scene, due to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, which has caused frightening repercussions on the overall economic conditions in the European continent and the rest of the world, especially in terms of energy, inflation, and cybersecurity, in addition to geopolitical risks, the risks of social discontent, and the outbreak of internal conflicts." However, there remains a real Arab desire to contribute to monitoring future prospects and to play a prominent and essential role in light of the fourth industrial revolution and the second digital revolution, which is characterized by the ability to raise the level of global income and improve the quality of life for residents all over the world, including the Arab world.
    He pointed out, "France's recent tendency to expand its investments, especially in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, after it was limited for many years in the Maghreb countries, prompts us to expand cooperation in various sectors, most notably culture, tourism, entertainment, sports, oil and food safety, in addition to the sectors of the future economy. The Federation of Arab Chambers, and through coordination and cooperation with our partners in the Arab-French Chamber of Commerce, we seek to transfer the Arab-French relationship and cooperation to a level compatible with the emerging global changes.
    He concluded by saying: "We are all aware that development and economic integration have a very large economic impact on the progress, development and stability of our countries, and that it must include joint investments and focus on value-added projects, research, innovation and development, including the green economy, with the importance of following the rules of competition between projects and increasing competitiveness." "
